This world-renowned name was established in Belgium in 1857 by Jean Neuhaus. Originally Jean Neuhaus and his brother ran a "pharmaceutical confectioners" in Brussels which offered liquorice for stomach complaints and bitter chocolate. Over many years and generations the business has gradually changed to produce only fine chocolate. Their invention of the worlds first filled chocolate, the "praline" and also the "ballotin", has seen the Neuhaus name go down in history. Today the company still produces one third of its fine chocolates by hand and is sold in more than 50 countries world-wide.
